The mission of Interdependence Clinical Consulting is to highlight and strengthen the connections between individual wellbeing and the quality of our closest relationships.
Grounded in the most current clinical research, health is not treated as an isolated experience but as an emergent property of the relational processes that shape our lives.
By honoring the intricate network of human connection, Interdependence Clinical Consulting strives to advance clinical care that elevates both personal healing and the collective health of the systems to which we belong.

"Successful therapists learn to become 'amygdala whisperers' by leveraging the social brain in order to help clients face their fears." -Louis Cozolino
My name is Dr. Michele Parker and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Connecticut and Florida. Since I began clinical practice 15 years ago, I have been committed to working with the more difficult experiences that relationships endure. I appreciate the courage it takes to seek support with deeply personal concerns and the importance of finding the right therapist for you. My clinical approach is based in attachment-informed, experiential techniques that allow clients to interrupt the cycles that keep them stuck. Therapeutic change requires a degree of challenge and discomfort, but I provide a supportive context in which clients can achieve personal growth.

Clinical supervision toward licensure as a marriage and family therapist with an AAMFT-Approved Supervisor. Also providing supervision mentorship for supervisors-in-training with AAMFT.

Presentations on specialized topics in mental health such as neurodiversity, "catfishing", attachment, and complex medical conditions. Partnerships include CT Family Support Network, WPLR Radio, Mount Sinai Health, and UMASS.

Social and behavioral research support in quantitative methodology and statistical analyses for dissertations and theses. Specializing in mediation/moderation models, dyadic data analysis, and factor analyses.

Clinical research overwhelmingly indicates relational therapy is an effective treatment approach for individual and relationship concerns.
Interdependence Clinical Consulting is committed to furthering socially responsible clinical research that explores the connection between biological, psychological, relational, and social factors relevant to therapy.
We value a range of interdisciplinary collaborations with scholars from across the country to contribute research that advances clinical training and practice with couples and families.

Adult attachment focuses on the experiences we have within our relationships. Attachment experiences manifest in our physiological responses to emotional distress, the beliefs we have about relationships, and the ways in which we respond toward our partners. In addition to personal outcomes, our research suggests that personal wellbeing is also affected by partner's attachment.

As the prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) continues to rise, there is a growing need for clinical approaches that address the unique needs of neurodiversity. However, many evidence-based approaches overlook the relational effects of families and couples affected by ASD and ADHD.
Readings:

The rapidly expanding reliance on technology offers notable benefits to social engagement. On the other hand, relationship outcomes may be negatively affected by technology use. Our research indicates harmful behaviors such as online dating deception (i.e., catfishing) and "phubbing" interfere with the relational connections associated with attachment.
Readings:

Couples therapists generally report certain relationship concerns are more difficult to treat than others. Infidelity, intimate partner violence, and motivation for divorce are among the most challenging experiences that couples experience. Our research indicates that these issues are often far more complex that was previously believed.
